People often try various types of workouts or fitness routines only to discover they lose interest after a few weeks or even days. One trick to sticking with a wellness plan is to create a workout around something you’re already passionate about. With gamers, a group traditionally known to be a bit more sedentary, Black Box Fitness provides an outlet for them to enjoy their favorite hobby while developing a wellness routine.
Black Box Fitness appeals to gamers because it incorporates something they already love and introduces them to a healthy environment that can benefit them physically and emotionally. Caleb is a true gamer and shares some of his stories about his experience with Black Box Fitness.
BBVR: We love to hear stories about people who enjoy Black Box Fitness for improved wellness. Tell us a bit about yourself, Caleb?
Caleb: My name is Caleb. I’m 24-years-old and single. I enjoy video games, photography, off-roading, and engineering things.
BBVR: How did you find out about Black Box Fitness, and what made you want to try it?
Caleb: I read a member story about someone who used Black Box Fitness and realized I could use my love for video games to help fuel my journey to get back in shape both mentally and physically. I got my membership during the pandemic, but those workouts are what got me through 2020.
BBVR: We are so glad you joined and put your health first. Tell us about the first time you put on the VR headset and entered the Black Box Fitness VR world.
Caleb: It might be shocking because I am a huge gamer, but Black Box was my first ever Virtual Reality experience. It took me a little bit to fully grasp this new world I was in, but the onboarding training sessions walked me through it with a fun and engaging storyline. Once I started working out, I jumped right in and picked up on the game quickly. It was amazing!
BBVR: What are your favorite features of the Black Box VR fitness experience?
Caleb: Getting in the zone or what some people call a flow state. I’ve noticed the Black Box Fitness experience pushes my body to its limits faster than any traditional workout I’ve done. My mind doesn’t hold me back. Instead, my mind is engaged at the task at hand, and my body just follows and does what’s it’s told to do.
BBVR: How does Black Box Fitness compare with other workout programs you’ve done in the past?
Caleb: I’ve done strength training at home and football practice in high school. Black Box Fitness makes it easier to be self-motivated to reach goals in-game.
BBVR: Do you do any other physical activities to boost your fitness results?
Caleb: I play volleyball with friends, do push-ups and sit-ups at home on my off days of going to Black Box. Nothing major.
BBVR: Nutrition is an essential part of health and wellness. What kinds of food do you eat?
Caleb: I need to get into food prep. It would make life so much easier. Currently, I get my food from the deli at my local grocery store. I do try and eat as clean as I can. I eat chicken pasta, fruit and vegetable salads. My diet changes based on how I feel, and that makes it challenging sometimes.
BBVR: It sounds like you’re doing the right things when it comes to what you are eating. What kind of results have you had since you started going to Black Box Fitness?
Caleb: I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in my energy levels at work, and I’ve been sleeping better. I think my body is doing a lot of rest and repair from the workouts.
BBVR: What types of strategies do you have when it comes to the Black Box Fitness gameplay?
Caleb: it’s all about balancing stamina and explosiveness. If you need some time to rest, you could use part of your walls HP’s to take a break. But just know not to let the percentage drop too low without breaking your opponent’s crystal.
BBVR: What are your favorite exercises?
Caleb: I don’t have favorites, but if we base it on what I do the most, it would be squats, “ice shard,” and deadlifts, “Cold fusion.” I have a strong core and legs, so I like to take advantage of that in my workouts.
BBVR: What are your favorite champions in the game, and how do you use them?
Caleb: Tidal and lightning tiger thus far. Honestly, I don’t have any strategy. I just deploy Tidal and then follow up with Lighting Tigar and defend them with direct attacks.
BBVR: As you play the Black Box Fitness game, every member unlocks achievements based on your fitness performance. What are the achievements that you are most proud of and why?
Caleb: It was so shocking when I received the achievement for 200,000 pounds in total volume, but my most proud moment was just after onboarding when I was placed in the platinum league and received my pin and headband.
BBVR: The platinum league is a solid place to start. Nice job!
The Black Box Fitness app tracks all fitness performance, battle logs, quests and has a fantastic community helping to cheer you on. What’s your favorite feature of the app, and why?
Caleb: Battle logs are extremely handy, giving a basic summary of what you’ve achieved inside of your last battle. Another feature I appreciate is the ability to schedule your next workout battle in advance and even see if there are any openings moments before heading to the gym. The app is handy to have, and I love the rewards and leveling up all my champions.
BBVR: Do you have any advice for people on the fence about trying Black Box Fitness?
Caleb: Just try it! You have nothing to lose. Use the free trial and decide if it’s for you. If you like games or even VR and you are looking to get in better shape, Black Box Fitness could be the gym for you.
